Playoff bracket update
As previously mentioned, the top half of the playoff bracket has now been played out with two teams advancing to the LAN finals, while the other two were eliminated from the competition.
alltheRAGE [0-2] WORTEX
alltheRAGE: prochas, Dreamas, maty, feqew, Regg1e
WORTEX: zteeek, DoisTa, PhilEba, KrassNer, Matup
The first LAN finalist for BESL Pro Season 3 was decided on Wednesday between alltheRAGE and WORTEX. Despite the series ending in two maps, both of them were actually much closer than the scoreline suggests.
Series began on WORTEX’s pick of train where after 30 rounds played teams came to a dead even scoreline of 15:15. What followed was an epic four overtime marathon that ended with the Estonians eventually squeezing out the victory against alltheRAGE with a scoreline of 26:28.
The map pick of alltheRAGE, nuke, was up next and yet again it was hard to split these teams apart as the game went back and forth right until the very end. Though, this time around WORTEX struck the final blow right at the 30 round mark closing out the map and the series with a 14:16 victory.
Match of the Week - wolsung [2-1] MAKONGA
wolsung: hyskeee, Whiskas, YEKINDAR, Flarich, AiyvaN
MAKONGA: Bymas, LaimB, CagXD, slokk, shorkly
The opening map of this epic battle, mirage, started with wolsung quickly establishing their dominance in the server as not only did they take the CT side pistol round and convert it into an early 2:0 lead, but they also kept running over MAKONGA for the rest of the half. With this not being an over exaggeration, Latvians literally did anything they wanted and MAKONGA just couldn't find an answer. Teams switched sides with wolsung being up 12:3 and while Lithuanian side did put up their best effort to muster a comeback, it was too little too late as Latvians secured the four rounds needed in order to close out the map pick of their opponents with a clean and easy 16:4 victory.
Inferno followed, with Latvians once again starting things off on a positive note (2:0), but this time around Lithuanians answered right back with five rounds of their own (2:5). The half progressed with teams trading rounds back and forth eventually coming to a 8:7 halftime score in favor of wolsung. As teams switched sides, surprisingly enough, it was all about MAKONGA from that point onwards as they won eight rounds in a row on their Terrorist side in order to finish the map with a 8:16 scoreline and tie up the series 1-1.
The final map of the series, dust2, saw Latvians taking the blueprint of map one and applying it one more time. Right from the start, wolsung played an aggressive brand of CS, wiping the dusty floors with Lithuanian players just like they did on mirage. As teams came into a 13:2 halftime score in favor of Latvians, MAKONGA once again tried their best to somehow kick-start a comeback, but, same as before, it was quickly shut down by wolsung as they claimed the three rounds needed to close out the map and the series, thus earning themselves a spot in the LAN finals in Riga.
Next week’s games
